Summer’s not over yet and in honour of the weekends we have left, we’ve chosen three infused cocktails to give your next BBQ or patio sesh a fresh twist. Each is easy to make, and you’ll most likely have most of the ingredients on-hand. Pass them around to your guests then sit back, relax and enjoy the summer sun!
A great way to infuse your coconut summer cocktails is to include some homemade coconut cannabis oil. There are many recipes for preparing cannabis-infused oils, we like this one this one. The gist is pretty simple: grind your bud (not too finely) and add it to a saucepan with coconut oil following a 2:1 ratio (2 cups of oil to 1 cup of bud). Cook the mixture on low for about 3 hours, stirring often. Once done, strain mixture, making sure to get all the ground bud out of the oil, and you’re done! The coconut oil will last for up to 2 months in the fridge and is ready to go for your next cocktail.
To make your Pina Canna-Colada, just follow a standard Pina Colada recipe like this one and add in your homemade coconut cannabis oil:
- 1/2 oz. dark run
- 1.5 oz. white rum
- 4 oz. homemade coconut canna-oil
- 2 oz. pineapple juice
- 2 oz. coconut cream
- 2 cups ice
Mix together in a blender and serve!
Snoop Inspired Gin and Juice
Snoop Dog might have a ton of awards under his belt, but the Guinness World Record he holds might be one of the coolest. Snoop is officially the world record holder for the largest cocktail ever mixed! While his gin and juice cocktail was a hit with the masses in the ‘90s, we are confident this easy infusion would make Snoop proud.
To make Snoop Inspired Gin and Juice Cocktail:
- 1.5-2 oz. gin
- ¾ cup of juice
- 15 ml of CBD oil
- Ice to fill your glass
In a medium sized glass mix the gin and juice together, pour over ice and add your CBD oil. When you add the oil at the end, it not only adds the subtle taste of marijuana to your drink but also that great smell. The oil will float on top of the drink too, for a cool look to the cocktail. Add some mint for a fancier look!
The Tom Collins drink is originally named after a pretty lame joke from 1874, but we still like ordering them at the bar! A Tom Collins is surprisingly easy to infuse with some cannabis simple sugar. To make some yourself, combine 3 cups of water with 3 cups of sugar. Boil them and once you’ve reached a boil, add 2 grams of decarboxylated ground bud and cook for 20 minutes. Finally, add 2 tablespoons of vegetable glycerine (found in the baking aisle). Cook for another 5 minutes, strain and use. Check out this easy to follow video here.
To make your Tom Cana-Collins, follow a standard Tom Collins recipe like this one substituting in your homemade cannabis simple sugar:
- 2 oz. gin
- 1.5 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice
- 1.5 tablespoons of cannabis infused simple sugar
- ½ cup of club soda
- ice to fill your glass
- maraschino cherry (optional)
Mix all the ingredients together and pour over ice in a tall glass. You can check out the traditional recipe here.
